The Homologation Manager is a key member of the Aftersales Team within PLA

Porsche Latin America (PLA) is a regional office with base in Maimi (FL) that steers 16 importers, responsible for 22 markets and 41 Porsche Centers. The region covers a geographic extension that goes from Mexico to Argentina and includes the Caribbean.

Homologation Manager’s key objectives:

  • Ensure all vehicles, components, and systems comply with local regulations, certification standards, and governmental requirements for each country in the region
  • Manage homologation of spare parts and maintenance of certifications thereafter
  • In collaboration with our local importers, be in communication with regulatory bodies, internal teams, and external partners to achieve timely and efficient market approvals
  • Proactively monitor development of emission, safety, environmental, parts packaging, labeling regulation trends and requirements in each market of Latin America

Roles & responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Lead and manage the homologation process for new and existing vehicles, ensuring full compliance with Latin American regulatory standards, including safety, emissions, and environmental laws
  • Certification and Approval: Coordinate and oversee the submission of technical documents, test reports, and other necessary paperwork to obtain type approvals and certifications from relevant authorities in each country
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact between Porsche headquarters and our appointed importers in each market, who at the same time manage the liaison with local government agencies, regulatory bodies, certification labs, and testing facilities
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product development, legal, and quality assurance teams to ensure all product specifications meet regulatory standards and facilitate the necessary modifications for compliance
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay up to date on changes in automotive legislation and homologation requirements across Latin American markets, and proactively advise internal teams on future trends and necessary adjustments
  • Testing Coordination: Manage relationships with test laboratories and ensure all necessary tests (safety, emissions, performance) are conducted according to the specific regulations of each country
  • Documentation: Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of homologation certificates, regulatory approvals, and compliance records while ensuring they are up to date and accessible
  • Process Optimization: Continuously review and improve homologation processes to reduce lead times and costs, without compromising quality or compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

QualificationsQualifications

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in homologation, regulatory affairs, or compliance within automotive industry
  • Proven track record of homologating vehicles / components in multiple countries
  • Experience in Aftersales, especially spare parts & accessory distribution and sales
  • Experience working with third-party laboratories and certification bodies
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory and certification standards across Latin American countries (e.g. Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, etc.)

Skills:

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple homologation projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with international homologation standards such as UN/ECE regulations, as well as specific national regulations in Latin American countries
  • Strong technical understanding of automotive systems, including safety and emissions standards
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in both Spanish and English (German is a plus)
  • Self-motivator who can work independently without supervision
  • Networking ability and capacity to influence and mobilize others towards a common goal
  • Computer proficient (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; ability to set and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand, climb stairs on occasion with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to effectively work and complete tasks in an open office/noisy environment.
  • This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud.

 

Percentage of required travel: approx. 15 - 25%
