Position overview

Works with dealership management teams to better define performance and set direction for business development and growth.  Based on established Key Performance Indicators, the Dealer Business Consultant provides definition and execution of strategic initiatives that will improve the efficiency of dealership operations.  DBC demonstrates in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm for the brand.  DBC will assimilate into the dealership day-to-day operations, fully understanding the dealer’s business processes, and capture recommended solutions to improve business practices.  The consultant manages assignments across a wide range of discipline areas including new and pre-owned sales, service, parts, improvement of cash flow and expense control/reduction.

 

Roles & responsibilities

Primary responsibilities:

 

  • Perform in-depth analysis; develop strategic plans and recommendation for dealership to improve performance in new vehicle sales, pre-owned, parts and service; maximizing market opportunities and achieving value-oriented growth within the Porsche Business Model.
  • Act as a business partner and work in conjunction with field managers in communicating suggestions for implementing best practices in dealership.  Promote research results and plan for implementation at dealership.
  • Introduce new processes to staff and promote positive change within dealership.
  • Coordinate all focus group meetings, workshop preparedness and action plans, in coordination with the appropriate PCNA field managers and dealer staff, to strategies plans for training initiatives.
  • Conduct survey analysis of competitors and customers; use results to establish industry best practice initiatives.
  • Develop specific quantitative goals that will affect overall Porsche goals.
  • Seeks to ensure proper retention of electronic documents, business confidential information, and actively demonstrates an understanding of the need to safeguard competitive information in both electronic and non-electronic formats.

Qualifications

Education:

  • BS/Business Management, Engineering or related field required.  MBA preferred.

 

Experience:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in the automotive industry, with direct Retail Management experience in a dealership environment, as a Sales Manager, Service Manager, or General Manager.
  • 5+ years of in-dealership consulting experience, with a record of accomplishment of improving dealership operations.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to be a self-starter and have confident with interacting with all levels of management and dealership personnel
  • Must have the ability to analyze complex dealership, business structures; prepare business analysis identifying bottlenecks, problems, hurdles, opportunities and developing proposals for optimizing dealership performance
  • Strong lateral thinker with the desire to improve processes and standards proactively
  • Complete understanding of dealership operation across all disciplines
  • Good pragmatic business sense 
  • Ability to think of innovative ways to get results
  • Strong analytical and good problems skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong negotiation, persuasive, and motivation skills

Percentage of required travel:

  • 80% travel required. 
  • Near major airport hub

 

Schedule/Shift:

 

The salary range for this role is $150,000-$170,000. However, it is important to note that at Porsche, compensation range is dependent on geographic location. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skillset. Porsche reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness.

Physical requirements

 

  • This job operates in an automotive dealership and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position will also have work in an automotive dealership facilities.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit (for prolonged periods while traveling), stand, move, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
