Position Overview

The Workshop Coordinator as a part of the Complete Vehicle Department is taking responsibility for prioritizing, scheduling, and assigning work orders to technicians and mechanics based on urgency, complexity, and available resources. This role ensures smooth daily workshop operations, monitors ongoing work progress, and adjusts priorities to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards. The coordinator manages all workshop-related tools, equipment, and the facility itself.

Additionally, the position oversees the procurement and administration of manufacturer-specific service parts, maintenance materials, and lubricants, while monitoring vehicle wear and tear in line with development maturity. Acting as a supportive function for Project Management, the coordinator facilitates operational workshop order management and assists in coordinating the Analytics and Workshop teams for complete vehicle projects.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, schedule, and assign work orders to technicians/mechanics based on urgency, complexity, and available resources
  • Coordinate daily workshop operations to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of jobs
  • Support technicians/mechanics by providing job documentation, updates, and guidance as needed
  • Interface for Analytics- and Workshop-Team
  • Monitor progress of ongoing work and adjust priorities as needed to ensure deadlines and quality standards
  • Responsibility and management of all workshop-related (special) tools, equipment and the workshop itself
  • Procurement and administration of manufacturer-specific service parts, maintenance parts, wear and tear parts, lubricants or other operating materialsCollaboration and management of an adequate tow truck company for vehicle recovery, of (confidential and secret) prototypes at all times
  • Operational coordination of workshop order management in a supportive function for the Project Management
  • Ensure workshop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies and standardsOther duties as assigned

Percentage of required travel: 10 %

Schedule/Shift: Regular Business Hours

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000 per year. However, it is important to note that at Porsche compensation range is dependent on geographic location. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skillset.

Porsche reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Minimum requirement is a certification as an Automotive service-/Master-Technician and four+ years work experience in fields related to Automotive Technologies
  • Additional certifications in Automotive Engineering can be used toward experience requirements
  • Expert mechanical skills and strong understanding of automotive repair processes
  • Expert in prioritizing, planning and scheduling work orders in consideration of resource capabilities
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Advanced knowledge of Complete Vehicle Systems and Automotive Technologies
  • Advanced knowledge with workshop management software and digital work order systems
  • Confident with identifying, distributing and managing spare part and other operation material needs
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff

 

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with Porsche’s proprietary testing systems and methodologies is a plus, such as PIDT, PUDiS, PPN, PCSS, Cluu, etc.
  • Basic German speaking
  • Ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, flexible to adapt to various forms of challenges, process oriented and work well within a group

Physical Requirements 

  • Comfortable with physical exertion for 4 - 6 hour intervals
  • Comfortable standing and walking for 4 - 6 hour intervals
  • Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5+ hours)
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • This job operates in an automotive workshop and office environment. This role routinely uses standard workshop equipment such as (power) tools, hoists, high-pressure cleaners, OEM-specific tools, cameras, phones and photocopiers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, automotive parts at operational temperature and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, move, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift.
