Position overview

 

The Senior Manager Vehicle Distribution manages a team at headquarters that that oversees the daily operations of Vehicle Distribution as well as the operations of the Customer Delivery programs offered for US clients in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Germany. He/ She conducts volume forecasting and production planning for the US market within the short term planning horizon. This position is instrumental to accurately fulfill vehicle allocation obligations within prescribed legal guidelines and Porsche AG requirements. He / She will collaborate with the Field and Porsche Centers to ensure vehicle orders are submitted in time and production quotas are filled and also work actively with PAG to balance short term demand and supply.

Ensure ongoing vehicle distribution process and system improvements as well as ordering and management of internal PCNA vehicles are part of this role. Important is providing internal and external PCNA customers with the most accurate information available in order to maximize business opportunities and drive employee and dealer satisfaction.

 

 

Roles & responsibilities

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manages an 8 person team at headquarters in Atlanta 
  • Produce the PCNA weekly estimation; a monthly sales forecast and submit to PAG, update short term forecast (Run-Down) monthly (actuals + forecast until the end of FY), contact person for PAG Sales for all sales forecast related issues and ad- hoc requests.
  • Conduct and submit Demand Projection to PAG (every 2 - 3 months), balance PCNA production quota.
  • Participate in the annual Long Range Planning process.
  • Oversee the regular distribution of vehicle production slots to authorized Porsche dealerships, set volume for dealer allocations five times per year and set volume for PCNA and Area pools monthly, Contact person for PAG Sales for all production related issues and ad-hoc requests. Allocation system support, testing, and training
  • Ensure vehicle orders are submitted in time and production quotas are filled. Actively work with PAG to resolve option / capacity shortages.
  • Coordination with PAG about ramp up, timing and restrictions, calculation of launch volumes (Dealer, Marketing, Sales and Technical Training) and coordinate with Marketing for Launch Vehicle specifications. Oversee the ordering and assignment of launch vehicles, coordinate launch schedule with Logistics, Finance, Marketing, and Training
  • Coordination with Product Planning and Regulatory Affairs to ensure PoS readiness for new Porsche Vehicles
  • Responsibility for the Special Delivery programs and operations for U.S. clients (European Delivery and Porsche Experience Center Delivery in Atlanta and Los Angeles
  • Concept development of key growth initiatives and pilot projects for the business field (in relation to Porsches Future Strategy)
  • Maintain and enhance Vehicle Management Systems to accommodate ever changing business needs.
  • Manage department personnel to ensure the duties relating to company car fleet, vehicle allocations, order changes, sales reporting and others are executed in an effective and consistently professional manner.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with PAG counterparts.
  • Operate department within annual and monthly budgetary guidelines.
  • Responsible for the proper usage of, awareness of, and compliance with Information Technology security policies at Porsche Cars North America.
  • Seeks to ensure proper retention of electronic documents, business confidential information, and actively demonstrates an understanding of the need to safeguard competitive information in both electronic and non-electronic formats

QualificationsQualifications

Education:

  • MBA preferred; otherwise a Bachelor’s Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field

 

Experience:

  • 7 years of work experience in the  automotive industry with experience in field sales, sales planning, and distribution functions
  • Experience developing and implementing successful process improvements
  • Advanced experience with standard MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.), desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign), and statistical data analysis (SAS JMP, R) experience strongly preferred
  • Dealership relationship/primary point of contact experience strongly preferred

  • Strong verbal and writing communication skills in English, German is a plus
  • Experience in project management and reporting
  • Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines

  • Ability to manage multiple high visibility projects simultaneously

 

 

Percentage of required travel: 5-10%

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand, climb stairs on occasion with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to effectively work and complete tasks in an open office/noisy environment.

The salary range for this role is $150,000-$175,000. However, it is important to note that at Porsche, compensation range is dependent on geographic location. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skillset. Porsche reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness.
