Position Overview

The Technical Specialist - Infotainment & Connect, within the Complete Vehicle department at Porsche Engineering is responsible for analyzing, testing and optimizing in-vehicle infotainment and connectivity systems that ensure seamless and innovative digital experience for our customers. The position will act as the key interface between software, hardware, and user experience teams to deliver high quality and reliable infotainment solutions.

As the vehicles mature, it is necessary to update the vehicles, especially with regards to the software and hardware, to ensure that any findings and/or complaints occurred are arising from the latest, released versions and are thus relevant. The main task is to analyze and manage the events occurring throughout the Complete Vehicle activities, including the corresponding validations, assessments, updates and analyses of the vehicles. This also includes documentation and communication of anomalies, complaints, findings and analysis results.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Oversee integration of multimedia, navigation, smartphone connectivity (e.g. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay) and voice control
  • Monitor vehicle quality in aspects of Infotainment & Connect by analyzing development maturity level based on various sensors, including repetitive failures/findings reported by market-specific drivers
  • Analyze innovations and market trends (e.g. 5G, V2X) to propose new features and improvements
  • Ensure availability of Infotainment & Connect features throughout all vehicles
  • Perform root cause analysis utilizing tools and software with a deep knowledge of CAN, Ethernet and 5G
  • Plausibility check of the results of the measurement data analysis from the vehicle and implementation of validation tests
  • Collaborate with relevant OEM departments from customer side responsible for Infotainment & Connect
  • Operational coordination and performance of complaint management in an interfacing function to the customer
  • Commissioning in regard to software- and hardware-updates, considering the entire Infotainment & Connect architecture

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Four-year Engineering or technical-based degree in automotive related sciences or technologies OR a minimum of 10+ years of work experience in fields related to automotive technologies
  • Minimum requirement is a certification as an automotive service-/master-technician
  • Expert knowledge of Infotainment & Connect systems and automotive technologies
  • Strong knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, LIN, and diagnostic protocols
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, Android Automotive OS, or Linux-based platforms
  • Advanced analytical skills and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment

 

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Graduate Degree in Automotive Engineering
  • German speaking is plus
  • Experience with Porsche’s proprietary testing systems and methodologies is a plus, such as PIDT, PUDiS, PPN, FAZIT, Cluu, etc.
  • Ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, flexible to adapt to various forms of challenges, process oriented and work well within a group

Schedule/Shift: Regular Business Hours

 

The salary range for this role is $117,110.00 to $145,000.00 per year. However, it is important to note that at Porsche compensation range is dependent on geographic location. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skillset.

Porsche reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness.

Physical Requirements 

  • Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 - 5 hour intervals
  • Comfortable standing and walking for 3 - 5 hour intervals
  • Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5+ hours)
  • This job operates in an automotive workshop and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, automotive parts at operational temperature and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, move, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift.
